How do I get a rent payment receipt from Ejar?

Short answer

If you paid rent through Ejar’s official channels (mada, Apple Pay or SADAD with biller code 153), you do not need to ask the landlord for a receipt: the system issues the receipt voucher automatically, and you can find it in your Ejar account under Finance (المالية), then the receipts page, after selecting the contract. A payment made outside the platform can get a receipt voucher, approved by the landlord, if the payment method in the lease allows it; on new residential leases since 15 January 2024, no payment outside Ejar’s channels is recognised.

An automatic receipt for every payment through Ejar

Ejar’s FAQ says payments made through Ejar do not need a receipt voucher because one is issued automatically, and on 3 July 2025 Ejar’s official X account explained that this happens when payment is completed by mada, Apple Pay or SADAD with biller code 153. REGA had announced on 2 January 2024 that payments through the approved digital channels are settled and recorded automatically, and that the platform would gradually stop issuing electronic receipt vouchers for new residential leases from 15 January 2024.

Ejar’s residential lease page describes paying through the SADAD billing system as removing the need for paper receipt vouchers.

A payment made outside the platform: when is a receipt voucher issued?

Ejar’s official X account gave the same answer on 2, 15 and 27 May 2026: if the payment methods in the lease allow receipt vouchers and the payment was made outside the platform, a receipt voucher can be issued for it and approved by the landlord, under Finance, then View invoices and receipts (عرض الفواتير والإيصالات), by selecting the payment. If the lease’s payment method is electronic only, payment must go through the electronic channels and no payment outside the platform is recognised.

  • Landlord: according to Ejar’s user manual, opens Finance, then View invoices (عرض الفواتير), and selects the contract to see the recorded payments and their status, then chooses Issue receipt voucher (إصدار سند القبض) from the three dots, enters the amount, payment method and date, and confirms.
  • Tenant: Okaz reported on 12 August 2023, before the payment restriction, that Ejar said a tenant can request a receipt voucher under Finance, then View invoices, and send it to the landlord for approval.

Steps

  1. Log in to your Ejar account, as tenant or landlord.
  2. Open the Finance menu (المالية) at the top of the page.
  3. Choose the receipts page: Ejar’s FAQ calls it View receipts (عرض الإيصالات), in an answer published since at least January 2023, while the replies of Ejar’s X account in July 2025 and May 2026 call it View invoices and receipts (عرض الفواتير والإيصالات).
  4. Select the contract to list all its receipts, then open the receipt for the payment you need and download it.
  5. If no receipt appears, check the payment’s status under View invoices after choosing the contract, and contact Ejar on its unified number 199011 if needed.

Follow-up questions

How do I know whether my lease allows receipt vouchers or electronic payment only?

Check the rent payment method field in the financial data of your documented lease; in the residential template file published on Ejar’s website, which is marked as a non-binding draft, it reads “through one of the electronic payment methods approved on Ejar”. The restriction to digital channels covers new residential leases since 15 January 2024, not commercial leases or residential leases documented before that date.

I paid the landlord directly before the restriction and the payments still show as outstanding on Ejar. What can I do?

On 10 June 2025 Ejar’s official X account told a user in this situation to issue a receipt voucher under Finance, then View invoices, clicking the contract, then the three dots next to the invoice and the receipt voucher option. According to Ejar’s May 2026 replies, the landlord approves the voucher.

Can the landlord see the payments I made?

Yes. According to Ejar’s user manual, under Finance, then View invoices, the landlord sees the recorded payments for each contract and their status.
